It was a hot topic as to which phone would be upgraded to the Windows 10. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced that it will be Lumia 635 with 16GB of RAM, which will be launched with Windows 10. This new upgraded version of Lumia 635 was spotted on the list of the Hungary website of Telenor ASA (OTCMKTS:TELNY). However, the news has not been made public yet as to where will this new phone be launches. It is expected that the phone will be launched via Wind, TIM, as well as Movistar.

Previously, the Lumia phones had RAM of only 512MB, and one reason for this was the lighter operating system supported by these phones. However, customers were of the view that this storage capacity was too less if it was to be used for the purpose of playing games, as well as multitasking which mean that the consumers will be able to use many different application at one time. Hence, the customers had been demanding that the phones support a better operating system. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) know that its phones are having these problems and to make things better, the company has been offering Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 in 16GB as well. Furthermore, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has also announced that all the phones which support Windows 8 will have the option of upgrading their system to Windows 10. Currently, the only phones which still have 512MB of storage capacity are Lumia 530 as well as Lumia 630.

As of now, there is no updated official news regarding any more changes which Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) would be making to this phone. The specifications which are expected from Lumia 635 include a screen of 854 x 480, FWVGA” of 4.5 inch, a 1.2GHz processor which will be Snapdragon 400 quad core. The phone will have Windows 8.1 along with an internal memory of 8GB. There will be a 5MP camera coupled with 4G capacity. The increase in RAM by Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will be widely accepted by the users who would now be able to multitask. This will make the experience of using Lumia 635 so much better for the customers, and will also allow them to play games in high quality. On the flip side, to get this upgraded RAM, the Lumia users would have to compromise on the battery life of the phone. The upgraded Lumia 635 with 16GB of storage capacity will be able to spend 19 day on the standby mode, whereas the standby period of the 512 Lumia was 25 days.

It seems that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is facing problems regarding the smooth running of the Windows 10 on the phones with 512MB RAM. It is rumored that the company is currently working so that Windows 10 will be compatible with the 512MB phones as well. There are two possible explanations for this. One is that the company has hit a dead end, or that this is a way for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to increase the sales of its 16GB phones. One more explanation could be that the company is talking about stopping the production of 512MB phones completely. It is expected that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will make some announcements regarding these matters in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in 2015.

Bloomberg recently reported that Motorola (NYSE:MSI) is looking for a potential sell out. The company is the maker of cell phones, walkie-talkies and radio equipment and had decided to explore this option for its revenues and earnings were going low for quite a while now. Motorola is an 87 year old firm, and according to the reports of Bloomberg, the potential buyers include defense contractors as well as private entities. These firms include General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) and Honeywell (NYSE:HON).

Motorola (NYSE:MSI) is in contact with some of its advisors in order to look for a buyer. According to some sources familiar with the matter, the company had been looking for some buyers for quite a while now. Chances are that Motorola (NYSE:MSI) will be sealing the deal in the latter part of the year 2015. Motorola (NYSE:MSI) was formed when Motorola separated from its mobile division back in 2011 due to huge pressure from Carl Icahn, an activist investor of the company.

Motorola (NYSE:MSI) has a market cap of $15.6 billion only. The production segment of Motorola was later on given the name of Motorola Mobility Holdings, however, the unit divested just a few months later. Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) bought the unit for a total of $12.4 billion. It was with the sale of its phone unit to Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) that the company ended its future. It is important to mention here that Motorola (NYSE:MSI) was the first company that introduced the concept of mobile phone back in 1980s.

Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) sold this phone unit to Lenovo Group, a PC maker company located in China. According to some sources, Raytheon is planning to expand its business, and for that matter, Motorola (NYSE:MSI) can be a great deal. Raytheon acquired a surveillance and a cyber-security company back in 2014 for a total of $420 million in order to improve its intelligence segment. Dave Wajsgras, the chief financial officer of the company, recently mentioned to the media that the company will be expanding its cyber business together with the electronic warfare.

The CFO further announced that the company wants to make acquisitions related to technology so as to build its market. According to some analyst companies, Raytheon may be a potential buyer for Motorola (NYSE:MSI). Motorola Solutions (NYSE:MSI) manufactures radio devices for emergency purposes. That said, the company also covers a whole array of products, and hence, it can prove to be quite beneficial for Raytheon. The non-GAAP earnings of Motorola declined by 33 percent on yearly basis for the year 2014.

The revenues also fell down by 6 percent. As for the year 2015, the company expects its revenues to stay flat at -2 percent. On the last trading day of February 08, 2015, the company closed its stocks at 1.03 percent and reached $64.66. The stocks gained 6.75 percent when the news of Motorola’s (NYSE:MSI) potential sell out hit the market. The shares hit the figures of $70 in the high hour.

Hewlett-Packard’s (NYSE:HPQ) latest tablet comes with a stylus along with a 12.3 inch screen. The company has made a lot of effort on this product and it is being said that the latest HP Pro Slate 12 boasts of everything which was anticipated from Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad Pro. The company has priced its product as high as $569. Although the latest HP tablet’s sales might not beat any records, however it is expected to give Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) tablets a fair competition among the business community.

This is not the first tablet that Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) has launched. The company has been making tablets for a while now, however prior to the HP Pro Slate 12 the price range of HP tablets’ were considered to be on the lower side. This is the reason why HP (NYSE:HPQ) has never been counted in the global top tablet manufacturers. Although the latest tablet by HP (NYSE:HPQ) is also powered by Android, however it is distinctively high-end.

The HP Pro Slate 12 has a snapdragon processor of the 800 series. It also possesses a high-resolution screen along with a RAM of 2GB. However, the tablet’s main feature is the stylus also known as the Duet pen.

On the other hand there has been a lot rumors going around about Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) larger iPad. Although the company itself has not affirmed the news, however it is anticipated that the new iPad will be released very soon. A number of analysts along with several media outlets have talked about the tech company’s interest in releasing a bigger iPad and with the increase in the tablet industry and the growing competition it would make sense for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) to launch its product as soon as possible.

Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad Pro can also include a stylus and compete with HP’s Pro Slate 12. The company in the recent months has been granted patents regarding technologies that are related to stylus and according to an Apple analyst, Vhi Kuo there are chances that Apple Pro will be launched together with an Apple-made stylus. One thing in Apple’s favour is its partnership with IBM. The collaboration of the two companies has already enabled Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) to produce iOS apps which are business oriented.

HP (NYSE:HPQ) on the other hand is supported by Android which has its global market but is not very popular with the business users. If we take a look at the market for bigger tablets we will find out that there is as such no proven market. However, none of the huge tech companies have been able to make bigger tablets work. Samsung’s Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 are two examples of bigger tablets that did not do as well in the market as the expectations.

Although HP’s Pro Slate 12 seems like an attractive product, however its user market is limited and it cannot be considered a main product of the company.

Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has entered the wireless industry. Perhaps this is not the worst time after all as there is an aggressive war going on in the industry over the acquisition of spectrum. The company has entered a number of industries and it always ends up disrupting the previous set up. Chances are that it will undercut the existing companies in terms of price in order to attract more and more customers. At a time when the telecom companies are introducing latest offers every day in order to lure the customers, the entry of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG)in the wireless world can turn things around.

What is interesting to note here is the fact that Verizon (NYSE:VZ), the biggest name when it comes to the wireless industry, seems not too concerned with Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) entry. The chief financial officer of Verizon(NYSE:VZ), Fran Shammo, during the fourth quarter’s earnings call, mentioned that Google (NASDAQ:GOOG)is just another competitor. He further mentioned that the company is entering the market so it can increase the internet speed.

An increased speed will allow people to search more through Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG)search engine, which will mean increased profits for the company.Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) drives its revenues from its search engines, and hence, its profits will increase by many folds if only more people could have access to internet. The company entered the broadband segment due to this reason. The CFO of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG)told the media that the main target to enter the broadband market was to increase the speeds in order to make it easier for the customers to use google’s(NASDAQ:GOOG)search engine.

While talking to CNET, the Chief Financial Officer of Verizon(NYSE:VZ) said that Comcast and AT&T have increased their internet speeds in those markets where Google (NASDAQ:GOOG)has introduced its fiber services.News has it that Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) will be entering the wireless market as an MNVO. It will be using the network of T-Mobile and Sprint in order to provide affordable internet bundles to the customers. These MVNO partnerships are not uncommon in the respective industry.

According to some estimates, some 34 million subscribers use MNVO bundles; meaning that 10 percent of the total internet users are on some kind of MVNO subscription. There are a number of such partnerships in the wireless industry. The prominent one among them is Tracfone Wireless. Tracfone provides low rate prepaid services to its subscribers. The CFO of Verizon (NYSE:VZ)mentioned that since Tracfone deals with a whole different market, it will not prove to be a threat to the future business of Verizon(NYSE:VZ).

Coming to the stock price of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), the company is currently trading in the range of $533 to $542.17. It has a market cap of $366.96 billion with a P/E (price to earnings) ratio of 27.37.The shares of Verizon(NYSE:VZ), on the other hand, are being traded in the range of $46.98 to $47.93. It has a market cap of $195.91 billion.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) has silently doubled data allotment on its prepaid plan called AllSet, and by doing that the company has entered the market of prepaid data wars. Verizon’s (NYSE:VZ) AllSet plan does not provide any contract services, without the requirement of a complete credit check. The company has the highest number of postpaid subscribers which are highly productive for the company and that is the reason why Verizon (NYSE:VZ) never paid much attention to its prepaid market.

Amongst the line of wireless carriers, Verizon (NYSE:VZ) was the last one to offer its prepaid customers 4G LTE data plan, which was launched by the company in the previous summer. With the growth of the postpaid market and with the increase in the price wars, many wireless carriers have shifted their focus towards the prepaid market.

Verizon’s (NYSE:VZ) AllSet plan is priced at $45 and it provides the subscribers with unlimited texts, unlimited calls as well as unlimited international messaging to associating carriers and the service is available in countries like Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Verizon (NYSE:VZ) previously just offered 500 MB on its data plan but now the company has doubled the data allotment and it is now 1 GB.

To make things even better Verizon (NYSE:VZ) is offering free 500 MB data to customers who are willing to register for the auto-pay option along with the AllSet plan. Verizon (NYSE:VZ) even has something for the users who want more data. The company allows the users to adjust their plans by adding 500 MB for an extra $5 or 1 GB for $10 or 3 GB for $20.

However, the additional data will not be unlimited it will last from somewhere between 1 month to 3 months time. The reason behind Verizon’s (NYSE:VZ) decision of enlarging its data allotment might have generated due to similar steps that were taken by its competitors like T-mobiles and Sprint Corporation. Both these companies also launched fresh prepaid plans to compete in the growing prepaid market.

The postpaid market supports plans which occur without any contract and are installment based. According to analysts this is the union point of the two markets, postpaid and prepaid. Verizon’s (NYSE:VZ) actions also indicate the merger of the two markets. Double data promotions was first launched by AT & T, followed by Verizon (NYSE:VZ) and Sprint. The wireless carriers in an effort to surpass each other continuously try to gather more and more subscribers to their data plans.

AT & T Inc. has also been trying to dominate the prepaid market through its Cricket brand. The competition between AT & T and T-mobile has been going strong and in order to leave T-mobile behind AT & T even tried to attract more subscribers by giving them switching incentives.

Due to the intensive competition there has been a lot of pressure on the companies and the price war has been costly. AT & T and Verizon (NYSE:VZ) both speculate that their 4th quarter margins will be targeted by the increased competition in the wireless market.

Even though Sierra Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ:SWIR) has been a favorite of investors for quite some time now, the company might not be the fastest growing stock available for trading at the stock markets, as there are four specific stocks of companies belonging to the Internet of Things (IoC) category that seem to be outperforming it on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Till the beginning of 2015, Sierra Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ:SWIR) has posted increases in quarterly revenue of over 28% year after year.

Earnings per share have also increased dramatically by almost $0.24 per share on average, a figure much better than the one being targeted by industry analysts, who had the EPS pegged at $0.13. The stock is indisputably one of the best performing stocks in the IoC category, growing by more than 80% in the last fiscal year on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Analysts estimate that for the upcoming year, sales for Sierra Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ:SWIR) will grow by a further 13%, which showcases excellent performance by the company in the industry.

However, analysts predict that certain companies within the IoC industry may outperform Sierra Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ:SWIR) in the coming year, at least in their stock performance. After all, by the end of the day, investors worry about the growth of the stock, and, analysts argue, some IoC companies show much more promise than Sierra Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ:SWIR) as far as their stock’s growth is concerned. One such company which analysts have pegged is Ambarella (NASDAQ:AMBA).

According to analysts and industry experts, revenues for the company are expected to increase by an estimated figure percentage of almost 24% in the current fiscal year. The company makes SoCs for GoPro Inc., the world famous camera-making company. Currently, reported gross margins of Ambarella stand at over 63%, which are only expected to increase this year due to continuous innovation by the company in the sector.

Another company which has been pegged by analysts as having greater growth than Sierra Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ:SWIR) is CalAmp (NASDAQ:CAMP), the growth of which has been estimated by industry experts to stand around 15% in revenue in the current fiscal year. Although stocks of the company have had a very volatile history (they rose by more than 300% from January of 2013 to March of 2014, and then fell by over 30% in later months), lucrative contracts with the company Caterpillar seem to reflect positively on the business of the company and ensure a steady growth in stock in the upcoming year.

But perhaps the leader in growth would be Skyworks Solutions (NASDAQ:SWKS), which, according to industry analysts, may grow in revenue by over 31% in the upcoming year. Having big industry giants such as Apple and Samsung as its clients, Skyworks Solutions grew its revenue by over 50% in the previous quarter alone, with a cumulative growth in revenue for the past one year at around over 161%.
