Whatsapp Deal Cancellation And Blocking Threats To Facebook (FB)

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and YouTube received threats about their shutting down by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Prime Minister who is facing a fraud issue. The websites are asked to take measures to censor the content on the internet. Yesterday, he commented about the internet that some websites are posting and showing some recordings of purportedly wiretapped telephone conversations that make him responsible of a crime and it also includes one alleged to be of Erdogan instructing his son to deal with large sum of currency during a police implant investigation from a residence.

However, some of the recordings are accepted by Erdogan but he has also said that others are just propaganda against him. Some disciples of a US-based Muslim member of the clergy are accused by him for fabricating the corruption accusations to scratch his government ahead of significant local elections on March 30, 2014.

To enhance control over the internet, some laws are changed by the government last month that are igniting disputes. Recently, Facebook has signed a deal to purchase WhatsApp but privacy advocates are against this acquisition and they requested U.S. watchdogs to ban this deal until this point get clearer that how the personal data of WhatsApp’s 450 million users will be utilized by the company and what are its incentives.

Watchdogs received a complaint to inspect the agreement and specially analyse the capabilities of Facebook that how it will access user mobile phone numbers and metadata of Whatsapp.
The privacy advocates also complained and wrote the FTC filing that the social networking site has altered an acquired-company’s privacy rules in the past, including the Instagram photo-sharing service that Facebook purchased in 2012 in spite of guarantees by Facebook and WhatsApp that the privacy policies will not be modified pr changed.
