FBI Laments Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Data Encryption – “Too Secure”

Smartphone companies like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) are supposedly taking extreme security measures to protect the privacy of smartphone users, but the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigations) is not happy about it all.  This new encryption method is so sophisticated; that it cannot be accessed by the FBI or other law enforcement agency that may have a legal search warrant.

This extra layer of security may put a lot of individuals’ minds at ease, but without Big Brother watching and having access to call logs, emails, photos and other communications that are transferred over a smartphone, then murderers, child molesters and potential terror threats will go undetected.

Regardless of the concerns set forth by James Comey, the director of the FBI, the new devices of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) , the Android L and the latest version of iOS 8, by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)  will still be encrypted to the point that no one, except the owners of the device, can penetrate it.

The Chief of Detectives for the Chicago Police Department, John Escalante, is not pleased, and has made a statement to The Huffington Post that pedophiles will be looking to Apple for their phone of choice.

“I am a huge believer in the rule of law, but I am also a believer that no one in this country is beyond the law.  What concerns me about this is companies marketing something expressly to allow people to place themselves above the law.”

This default encryption, that is being adopted by Apple and Google, doesn’t make the device harder to tap, but it does limit law enforcement agencies access to emails, data, photos and the contact list that will be stored directly on the unit.

This information that will now be limited, thanks to Google and Apple, will cause needless delays in life threatening situations. Of course, criminal investigations do not rely on one type of informational source to bring criminals to justice, but when a vital piece of the puzzle is removed, the investigation becomes more difficult, and individuals that pose a threat to the nation may never be caught.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc(NASDAQ:GOOGL)  are not just protecting the privacy of the general public, it is seems that they are threatening the safety of everyone.

Tim Cook, the chief executive officer at Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) stands by the philosophy that these measures are to provide the customer with great service, without infringing upon their privacy.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) launched a storage service, known as the iCloud on October 12, 2011, and by July of 2013, this storage service has more than 320 million users.

iCloud, which seems to be easily hacked, was designed  by Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL), so that users would be able to backup and store data, such as IOS applications, photos, contact lists, music and more to a remote server.  Users of iCloud can instantly share games, music and photos by linking accounts.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has said that this new encryption technology is mainly to prevent the identity theft of users of the iPhone, and that they never meant to interrupt or hinder investigations conducted by the FBI or any other law enforcement entity.

Both Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) andApple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)  have been contacted directly by the FBI, to stress their concerns, according The Washington Post.

Even without smartphone accessibility, the FBI can still access certain types of data, like text and call records, directly from the smartphone carriers.  Cell towers can also be tapped, if necessary.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) opened the market today at 585.93 and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) opened at just under 100 (98.53 to be exact).
