Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is a Seattle based company and are the biggest online retailers’ to date. They are now planning to build a large distribution center which will cater to each and every distribution need for the giant as well as consolidate and streamline the process to cost them less. This building has been already planned in Concord, North Carolina and apparently it will employ around 200 people and will cost the online retailer around $4.5 Million to finish. The distribution and transportation will be more in control than ever before and a lot of redundant activities will be cancelled to offer more profitability.

The building permit for this Concord center shows that by November the construction of this building will start, and the advertisements for different positions available are already being published and the staff required for this distribution center is being hired. At least 30 more employees must be handled by one candidate who manages to successfully get hired for the job of management in the fulfillment and operations department.

An independent article in the Tribune said that the distribution center will be built on an area around 222,500 square feet and it is expected to be finished by next year. The Concord Airport Business Park is the place where the construction of two buildings for the Silvermen Group is already in the process of construction. It is said that one of those buildings will be used by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) distribution center, but it still has to be confirmed if this is a rumour or one of the options available to the Seattle based company, Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN).

It was difficult to obtain the exact information concerning the cost and quantity estimate for the staff requirement at the center, as all invitations for comment were declined by the Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) partners. The leasing of Silverman Group is being handled by the company of Avison Young.

The business park at the Concord Regional Airport will provide the total area of about 404,500 square feet, with the State of North Carolina being served by a center which is present in Columbia, S.C., or other locations when it becomes more feasible distributing to NC location wise. Etc. As reported by The Charlotte Business Journal, the latest center being based in North Carolina would improve services for the state manifold and is seen as Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) having long term interest in the particular state.

An independent article in the Tribune reports that Marc Mulfraat, the president of a Montreal based logistic consultation company MWPVL International Inc., says that the delivery system of products can be better controlled by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) because of these small centers. So one should not always see them as a negative aspect in any firm’s distribution system, contrary to popular belief. Costumers living far more than 250 miles from distribution centers would be now supplied by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) through this new distribution center in Concord once it starts operations in 2016.
