Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Studios recently released its new show called Transparent which stars six times Emmy nominee Jeffrey Tambor. The show is getting him enthusiastic reviews all around and this just might be the role which wins him his first Emmy! As he calls it his role of a lifetime he is playing a transgender who has made him hip amongst the techie crowd who is always streaming edgy shows. Why? Because they are surely familiar with Tambor who starred in Arrested Development, which was Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX)’s version of an original series for the streaming audience.

Transparent, which premiers today is about a male senior citizen who finally finds courage to become the woman he always aspired to be. Tambor’s transformation from Mort Pfefferman to Maura Pfefferman while juggling the feelings of three grown children is an equivalent to the debate on the America’s political front. Also starring the ever popular Emmy nominee Laverne Cox from Orange is the New Black, Transparent is getting reviews as being the best show this season. Could it be that Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is finally poised to take on Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) who is the streaming pioneer?

Director Roy Price says:

“The new environment of on-demand and the ability to have such a really, really large focus group permits us to see what shows might have a smaller but more passionate audience in the pilot”

This just goes to show that Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) realized the industry was changing with the immense popularity of Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX), hence it set out to create its first ever original series about politicians living under the same roof called Alpha House. This was produced last year and starred John Goodman, selected by a very unique technique which only Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) uses. Last year Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) posted around 14 pilots online where users could watch, share and review them. Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) executives could then analyze this extensive data from the first ever huge focus group and decide which pilot to move to production  A full listing of the episodes can be seen here.

The second round of the pilot screening and reviews ended with the production of Transparent and the third round was made public last month with five pilot episodes. The Cosmopolitans starring Chloe Sevigny and Adam Brody along with the Hand of God starring Ron Perlman and Dana Delaney being two out of the five pilots. Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares they have come up with the process of finding out which pilot will have a cult fan following but a small audience in terms of size. This wouldn’t have been possible in a much smaller focus Group.

For the first time ever, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has realized and acknowledged that watching TV shows has become more and more like reading a novel. The audience wants to get to the end in a single sitting, hence Transgender will offer all its 10 episodes at once for streaming to the audience. Tambor is really excited about his audience watching his transition in the show for a good five hours straight. Playing Maura has surely made him anxious and surely it wasn’t his lack of acting skills. He says he wanted to do it right for the transgender community. He goes on to add that people nowadays are not running after movies, true actors who want roles full of content will always opt for original shows!
