News Corp recently has been targeting Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), calling it a domain for piracy and other malicious activities. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) finally responded to these allegations saying that the company is a frontrunner in fighting piracy and other similar illicit activities.

The story broke out when News Corp official R. Murdoch wrote a letter to European Competition Commissioner, accusing Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) of being a breeding ground for piracy, defamation and false information.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) officials came out to defend the company’s name and respond to the allegation by saying that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has done more than any other company to combat piracy and filter out false information from its search engine. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) claims that it removed over 222m web pages that violated copyright laws. It also said that it has stood against child sexual abuse, unlike any other company out there, which shows the company’s commitment to its users.

The officials at Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) claim that it downgrades any website that violates copyright laws and also removes malware from their search results.

Rachel Whitestone, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s senior Vice President for global communications took a jab at Murdoch’s allegations in a blog post. The post also had a link to one of New Corps older newspaper editions in which News Corps had ridiculed President (then) of the European Commission.

News Corps also accused Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) of not allowing freedom of expression. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) officials stated that it has always stood up against agencies and governments when it comes to freedom of expression. Recently Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) unveiled a transparency list which included the names of the countries and the ‘requests’ they had made to Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) for removing content from their search engine.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) was also accused of changing its algorithm to cater to its own profits and filter out data that isn’t useful to the company itself or that gives Google’s rival company attention. To this Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) replied that the only reason they change the algorithm is to improve user experience.

This is not the first time Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has been accused of promoting piracy. YouTube has been accused of carrying videos that violate copyright laws. Also, Android apps have been replicated in the past leading to copyright issues.

But Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) said that piracy was an issue when all these subsidiaries were young and the copyright laws were loose. Things have changed now and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has sent out strict instructions related to copyright issues. Infact, only recently Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) asked the Android app makers to hand over their personal addresses so genuine and authentic apps can be developed.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has had to face a lot of heat in the recent past. Earlier this month Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) found itself back in European Court when the antitrust case opened up after four years. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) also suffered a security setback when millions of Gmail accounts were hacked.
