Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) has recently been indulged in the expansion of its spectrum portfolio. In context with this widespread expansion, the efforts of its Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Ergen, were highly appreciated by the Chief Financial Officer, Braxton Carter, of T-Mobile US Inc. (NYSE:TMUS). These compliments and praise might eventually pave the way for partnership between the two companies.
Mr. Carter had complimented Mr. Ergen, at a Morgan Stanley investor conference, regarding his efforts in expanding the company’s spectrum portfolio.
This expanded mid-band spectrum owned by Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) has been receiving quite favorable attention from T-Mobile US Inc. (NYSE:TMUS). Yet, Mr. Carter asserted that his compliments were without any nested interests and he had no idea regarding the strategy of Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) to deploy its wide spread spectrum assets.
About the partnership, Mr. Carter stated that since T-Mobile US Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) has no plans of going for its own network, therefore it highly encourages a mutual alliance between the two companies.
These intentions which were made public by Mr. Carter, at Morgan Stanley investor conference, were very much in line with the comments made by John Legere, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, on the capitals market day of Deutsche Telekom AG’s (ADR) (OTCMKTS:DTEGY). Moreover, he also reiterated a similar point of view while the company’s fourth quarter earnings report was being launched.
Previously there have been speculations regarding partnership between the two companies and Mr. Legere supported them by saying that the country would highly benefit from any such partnership between T Mobile US Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) and Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH).
After Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) made an investment of approximately $10 billion, at Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Auction 97; sentiments of the like kind have continually been shared by T-Mobile US Inc. (NYSE:TMUS). Despite the generosity of these comments, Mr. Ergen has still not revealed what his plans regarding the deployment of Dish Network Corp’s (NASDAQ:DISH) spectrum assets are.
At the last earnings call, Mr. Ergen shared Dish Network Corp’s (NASDAQ:DISH) spectrum holdings along with a complimentary video. The presentation of both entities was highly praised by T-Mobile US Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) which stated that they had provided the company with food for thought.
Mr. Ergen also said in this regard that the Dish Network Corp’s (NASDAQ:DISH) spectrum is the very thing which enables the company to stand its ground in the wireless market; therefore soon Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) would be going for partnership with a top ranking US Wireless carrier.
Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) and AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) have been highly criticizing this expected collaboration between the two companies. Speculations regarding this partnership had already been in the air previously, yet the recent comments made by T-Mobile US Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) further fortified these expectations.
Grievances were filed by both the carriers mentioned above, against Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH). AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) put an allegation of exploitation on Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) and claimed that the latter company was manipulating the plans brought forth by FCC, so that small-scale businesses could be helped. Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) also asserted in this regard that this strategy of the company involves one wireless carrier bidding against the other would automatically lead to the escalation of spectrum prices at the auction. On the other hand, T Mobile US Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) has been continually buttressing Dish Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) bidding in the AWS-3 spectrum auction.
