Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) spoke in a press release recently in which it revealed its plans of unveiling a series of new technologies and products at 2015’s Mobile World Congress. Chances are that the company will be introducing its solution to the next-generation mobile chip in the form of SoFIA which is the name of the company’s application processor.
In order to analyse the company’s position in the highly completive market one must keep a look out for the launch of SoFIA products.
SoFIA 3G parts: According to Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), its first SoFIA part has been approved which is a dual-core chip which include a 3G modem. Brian Krzanich, the company’s CEO said that the design of the part has been a winner and is going through a process of carrier certification. Given the scenario, the company should be more specific and should consider giving out more details about its product.
The company should talk at the Mobile World Congress about its 3G capable SoFIA part and along with that the company’s partners should avail the opportunity by showing the Smartphone designs which are cost efficient and make use of the dual-core chip. The CEO of the company says that many of the company’s partners and OEMs have checked the part and the investors would be anxious to see the design of the product.
SoFIA’s LTE version: Brian Krzanich said that the LTE version of SoFIA is expected to come out in the latter half of the year. If this is true, then the company should by now start talking about the particulars of the chip. It is possible that Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) has designs ready for its SoFIA LTE version but it is likely that the company’s partners will not be talking about those as yet.
Intel should reveal the SoFIA roadmap: At Intel’s (NASDAW:INTC) investors meeting which took place in the year 2014, the company delayed the roadmaps for two of its products. However, it is about time that the company starts to give out details about its new products and the Mobile World Congress is the perfect opportunity that the company should avail.
It is speculated that Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) will be launching a product titled SoFIA LTE 2. This version of SoFIA will cater to the value as well as entry sector of the mobile industry. Another platform that Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) is planning to work on is SoFIA MID which is designed for the midrange of the mobile industry. According to speculations Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) will be launching both these products in the year 2016.
However, it is not specified as to when in 2016 these products will be launched. Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) will definitely be talking at the Mobile World Congress about its future ventures like Samsung as well as its next generation Exynos chips. Due to the competition, it will be in Intel’s interest to give its investors the confidence that the billions that the company is spending are not going to get wasted and the company will be launching competitive products very soon.
