Latest MacBook Air by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), a possibility or not?

12

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is scheduled to have an event for the iPad on 16th October as per re/code. A next generation “retina” iMac is said to be launched in that event as well. However, this report brought to notice the absence of MacBook Air (next generation). One can’t help but wonder when the new MacBook Air will be launched.

One possible reason in the delay of MacBook Air could be the chip that is used in it. It has been speculated that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be interested in using Intel’s (NASDAQ:INTC) core M for its new MacBook Air. The reason for this choice could be the ability to come up with a system with any fan that will not compromise the functionality of the product.

On the other hand what needs to be understood is that the Core M Processor will be able to operate in a thermal envelope of 4.5 watt, and therefore will not be able to function as well as the older versions of MacBook Air, which used 15-watt chip. Due to this reason Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) might not go for a fanless system, instead Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) might opt on improving the previous design of MacBook Air.

Why new MacBook Air could not have been launched in October?

V-R Zone china revealed that Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) will be launching its new Broadwell-U processors in January 2015 at CES. These processors are the ones that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has used in the current Ultrabooks and MacBook Air. Therefore, if the next generation of processors are due in 2015, then it is obvious the new MacBook Air is not being released in October.

Expectations from MacBook’s launch

What Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has planned for its launch is unpredictable at the moment. However, considering the CPU-World that quotes Chinese VR-Zone it can be foretold what Intel’s (NASDAQ:INTC) launching plans for its Broadwell processors look like. Following is a list of Intel (NASDAQ:INTC)’s Core processors (5th generation),

  • Ultrabooks Core i3/i5/i7 featuring GT1 & GT2  graphics in January 2015
  • Core M “F” coming later in December 2014 – January 2015
  • Core i3/i5/i7 designed for higher power & performance systems launch between July and September
  • Ultrabooks Core i3/i5/i7 featuring GT3 graphics to be launched in February 2015

In the year 2013, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) used the GT3 graphics i5/i7 in its MacBook Air products.  Hence, it makes sense to assume that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will end up using the other Broadwell parts in its MacBook Air laptops anytime during either the first or the early second quarter of the year 2015.

Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) launch of its next generation MacBook Air is just a speculation and these theories seem fair based on the launch of Intel’s (NASDAQ:INTC) chip. However, the time frame in which Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) decides to launch its product cannot be confirmed. What is interesting is the fact that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) was one of the first to adopt Intel Core Processors in the year 2013 and therefore it is expected that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will once again be quite eager to adopt the Broadwell technology for its new launch as quickly as possible.
