Samsung (SSNLF)’s Galaxy Alpha Smartphone Introduction is Overshadowed by the iPhone 6

In just a few short days, September 26th to be exact, Samsung (SSNLF) will be launching its new product, the Alpha Smartphone.

This great new Samsung device is being overshadowed by Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6, which is being sold within the same time frame, but that didn’t hinder Samsung from pulling out all the stops, and meeting Apple with competitive features on the Galaxy Alpha smartphone.

Until recently, Samsung has used plastic in the design of their phone, which seems to be more cost effective, at least on paper.  Competitors have been using lightweight, yet sturdy, metal frames for quite a while, and Samsung had to finally make the required change that reviewers, investors and their valuable customers have been seeking.

The new design of the Galaxy Alpha now incorporates metal into the casing, while still using a variety of textures on the back (mostly plastic), in order to bring the user total comfort while in use.

According to Mr. Ben Wood, the chief research advisor of CCS Insight, this design change is critical to the future success of Samsung.

It has to make up some of the ground it lost as a result of the relatively poor reception to the all-plastic Galaxy S5.”

The Galaxy Alpha Smartphone is comparative in price and features to the 16GB iPhone from Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL).  The price is $199.99 and many of the same features included, but not limited to: are a 4.7 inch touchscreen, a built in 8 core processor, 32 GB storage capacity and 2 GB of RAM.  The camera feature is able to shoot 4K of video, so any event will not be cut short or missed, due to lack of memory.

The camera on the Galaxy Alpha Smartphone is a tiny step down, 12 megapixels, when compared to the iPhone 6’s, 13 megapixels; the front facing camera feature on the Alpha Smartphone has a 2.1 megapixel capacity, which allows for clear selfie photos.

The battery life of the Galaxy Alpha Smartphone by Samsung outweighs its’ recent competition by 60 mAH.  Apple seems more concerned that their most recent model has a larger screen and higher resolution, than the Samsung Alpha than with battery life.

One major difference is the fact that the Galaxy Alpha by Samsung weighs 4.06 ounces (115g), which is just about .50 ounces less than the iPhone 6 by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL).  In addition, the new Samsung smartphone will only be .26 inches thick (6.7mm)

This new product, with its up-to-date design, has been selling in the United Kingdom for several weeks.  AT&T, exclusively, will be selling this great new phone by Samsung in the United States, and it will be available in three great color options: Sleek Silver, Frosted Gold and Charcoal Black.  Once the back cover is removed, the user can customize the screen color on their sleek new Samsung hand-held device.

Even though the Apple iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy Alpha Smartphone are compatible in many ways, another thing that they will have in common is the fact that neither one will enjoy a walk in the rain.
