September 9th – The Date To Watch For Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL)’s iPhone 6

13

Multiple online news sources have been speculating for months about Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL)’s iPhone 6. Thanks to rumors and leaks, it seems that the Cupertino based tech company will unveil its next generation smartphone during a special launch event on September 9th.

Apple’s Typical Reaction

Apple has declined to release a statement or comment on these rumors and reports. However, a release in September would be consistent with its prior strategies for the iPhone. Previous models of Apple’s smartphone have always been announced in early or mid-September, a few weeks earlier than the date that the product actually goes on sale.

Sources that are supposedly very close to the inner circles of Apple’s company released this information. The credibility of these reports is so much so that many major news outlets and publications have covered the rumors as well.

However, the release date to consumers for the iPhone 6 is still open to speculation. Latest reports from the supply chain of the iPhone maker have hinted that the iPhone 6 device could be in stores around October.

While it is still possible for Apple to debut the iPhone 6 later in the month of September, it would be very late in the month, considering the date that it will be unveiled. On the oher hand, Apple’s supply chain leaked information that suggests that this date is unlikely.

However, it is certain that the iPhone 6 will be released onto the market much later than the company’s prior iPhone releases.

Apple’s last iPhone models, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were released in the second week of September 2013.

Apple Uncertain About Phablet Version

Apple is looking to release two versions of the iPhone 6 – one with a typical smartphone sized 4.7 inch display and another one with a premium phablet type 5.5 inch screen. The dual versions add more complexity and uncertainty to the device’s release date.

It was previously assumed that both iPhone models would be released onto the market at the same time, but industry experts and analysts have since agreed that this will most likely not be the case. There have also been rumors that Apple will be dropping its then-confirmed plans to manufacture the iPhone 6 display screens out of sapphire glass. At this point, the company has maintained its silence on the matter, and it is uncertain what type of launch schedule will be used, or what the iPhone 6 display screen will be made out of.

Expectations to Exceed Previous Models

Even though there are douts concerning the smartphone’s release schedule, Apple is still expected to perform very will in sales with its new smartphone release. Apple has placed orders from suppliers to produce between 70 million and 80 million units of the iPhone 6. Analysts are already speculating that it will outsell the company’s previous iPhone models. In fact, some analysts are even claiming that the iPhone 6 will sell more units than the company has predicted for itself.

This forecast would be in line with the general trend of sales of the iPhone in 2014. In early 2014, the company saw lackluster sales numbers and disappointing growth potential. However, the company made a significant recovery from this disappointing beginning. In the second quarter alone, Apple sold 35.2 million units, or a 12.7% increase from the same quarter one year ago. Following this positive news, Apple’s stock price bounced back and rose by nearly 20% over the entire year as a whole.

As for Apple’s future plans, the company plans to announce a new line of iPads. The public is still eagerly waiting for validation from Apple for the release of a smartwatch. The announcements made from the September 9th event will be eagerly watched indeed.
