Based on a study carried out by Root Metrics, Sprint Corp. (NYSE:S) managed to improve its network performance and it is not the worst network in United States anymore. The title of the worst network has been passed down on T-Mobile (NYSE:TMUS) which is a smaller yet rival company. On top of the list of wireless network providers is Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) followed by AT & T Inc. (NYSE:T).
Root Metrics is a network testing company that works independently. The company released 2014’s second half results which were based on more than 5.7 million samples which were received from around United States. Previously, the company had revealed that T-Mobile had left Sprint (NYSE:S) behind and gained the position of the 3rd biggest network provider but this time around Sprint (NYSE:S) managed to gain its position back from T-Mobile (NYSE:TMUS).
Sprint (NYSE:S) had been facing issues with its network performance; however, the company improved its network services and also came up with cut-throat pricing plan to attract customers. These changes helped Sprint in getting its subscribers back. In the latest quarter, Sprint included 967,000 users to its list but at the same time the carrier also lost 205,000 postpaid phone customers.
Over the past couple of years, the company’s consumer perception had also seen a decline and it was rated the worst as per the Consumer Report that came out in November. However, hopefully the report released by Root Metrics will change this perception of the consumers.
John Saw, the Network Chief at Sprint said that the result has been very encouraging for the company and it took the company longer to get this result than it had initially anticipated. Although Sprint managed to develop its network performance, it could not improve its data performance as well as data speed. Both these segments are extremely important for consumers who are more concerned about the data than the network’s voice as well as text volume.
Sprint (NYSE:S) needs to work on its network in order to attract more customers. On the flip side, T-Mobile (NYSE:TMUS) although did not exceed Sprint on national level, the company did much better as far as some significant metropolitan areas are concerned.
The CTO of T-Mobile, Neville Ray said that the company believes in the metro stuff, he pointed out that T-Mobile (NYSE:TMUS) is the second best as far as the US metros are concerned and it is ranked as number one as far as the network speed is concerned. On the National as well as metro level, Verizon was ranked first in its overall network execution, followed by AT&T.
AT&T stood first as far as the reliability of the network is concerned. The company also excelled in terms of speed, the performance of a call and data. Last week the CEO of T-Mobile John Legere pointed out that Sprint’s portrayed poor network performance. However the CEO of Sprint (NYSE:S), Marcelo Claure had responded by saying that the company is working towards improving its network and he also added that Legere will get a shock when the company’s new scores related to its network performance will be revealed.
