Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) is encouraging the customers to use digital copies that come along with the DVDs and Blu-ray discs bought from the market. Customers  can now scan the receipt of their purchases through the Saving Catcher mobile app, recently upgraded by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT), and automatically add the digital copy of the discs, procured to their Vudu account, the online streaming portal that comes under Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) ownership.

InstaWatch is the association between Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) and Vudu. This feature is laced with over 800 movies including latest releases. The project is a brain child of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT)’s mobile and digital division, and has been beta tested quite recently. InstaWatch is expected to host movies that are recent releases.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) has urged the customers to redeem their digital copy which they get along with the DVDs and Blu Ray discs they buy. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) believes that without claiming the digital copy, the customer is denying him/herself the full value of the sale. Customers just have to scan their receipts through the Saving Catcher mobile app, connect to a Vudu account and from there on they will get a confirmation email stating that the movie is ready to be streamed on customer device. Vudu is also available on gaming consoles such as Playstation(3,4), Xbox (360,One).

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) is of the view that InstaWatch will change the whole scenario of watching films because of the rapid transition to digital sector. The project is also backed up by DreamWorks Home Entertainment, Lionsgate Home Entertainment, Paramount Home Media, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Warner Home Video. However, Disney’s absence from the list of top entertainment houses is quite conspicuous.

The VHS, CD and DVD formats are losing their hold in market, due to possibility of damage that renders these formats useless.  Online streaming portals, suc as Netflix enables users to watch movies, irrespective of time and place, provided users are connected to the internet.

Mike Dunn, the president of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment recently released a statement on the significance of InstaWatch for the movie enthusiasts. He declared InstaWatch a revolutionary feature that will turn a customer’s living room into a cinema and enable movie fans to watch latest releases, regardless of time and space.

Movie disks that are compatible with this feature will be marked with an orange dot, for the customer convenience.

This is being seen as an encouraging step taken by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) and it shows its dedication to provide, customers with innovative and latent applications and services. It also shows the fast paced transition in the viewer experience. People are too busy to visit Cinemas these days; Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) is especially obliging those film enthusiasts who consider video a bit more personal rather than a shared experience.
