Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)has introduced a brand new range of Lumia smartphones. They have shifted their focus, strategically and stylishly to producing affordable smartphones. These smartphones are powered by a great blend of hardware and software.

Smartphones market for the past few years has been dominated by Samsung and Apple (NASDAQ:APPL). These two have become a symbol status for its users. Microsoft purchased Nokia and took the first step in entering into this highly competitive market.

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) paid a mammoth sum of $7.2 billion to purchase Nokia. To make its mark, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) opted for the prestigious IFA consumer electronics fair, Berlin, to reveal their latest smartphone, Lumia 830. Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) was smart enough to launch its new phone a week prior to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s 9th September event.

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has set a before-taxes selling price of 330 Euros ($433) and an overall price of 400 Euros ($525) on this smartphone.

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has introduced a few very exciting features in its brand new Lumia. The latest trend in photography ‘selfie’ has been introduced in Lumia 735 with a front-facing 5 mp camera. This all-purpose mobile was introduced to Microsoft workers in July in an in-house demonstration.

The two latest additions in the Lumia family are: Lumia 735 and Lumia 730. These mobiles will be available for a price of 219 Euros and 199 Euros (excluding taxes), respectively. Lumia 735 has been upgraded to work with 4G networks while Lumia 730 had been designed for 3G network market.

These new inductions have won great praise from technology experts. However, it is yet to be seen how the customers respond to this new addition in the Lumia family.

It is believed that the major concern lies with the software, Microsoft Windows, which was not setting well with the buyers. There was a decline in the market from 3.8 to 2.7 percent, within a year’s time period.

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Android smartphones have control over 85% of the market. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) market has taken a slight downfall within a year from 13.4% to 11.9%. Samsung android smartphones on the other hand have a greater market appeal. They have a market share of 25.2%. Samsung market is declining due to the Chinese producers with their tech based and low priced mobiles.

Lumias new models are a blend of improved hardware and software, focusing on the middle class, which can prove to be a smart step, predicts Forrester analyst Thomas Husson.

Despite the positive reviews given, many analysts are still not sure of a total wipe out success of Lumia. Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has to come up with original ideas regarding software development and customer services. It has to introduce new inventive apps in order to compete with Android and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).

As an answer to the concern of the market analysts, Chief Executive of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Satya Nadella, came up with a new method. He introduced a system that empowers both users and developers. A device should be fast enough so that it can be productively used by the user and should provide a canvas for developers. He predicts that this new technology will make Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Lumia a leading brand in mobile as well as the IT market.
