Rumor has it that, later this month, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will soon be unveiling a GOLD iPad that will have fingerprint touch sensors, similar to the iPhone 5S and 6.

This new version of the iPad tablet is said to have a golden cover on the back of the device, in addition to the grey and silver colors that are already offered.  In addition, this new design is said to be thinner with rounded edges.  The final design  of the new iPad by Apple, Inc. has not been confirmed, and there is still time to make a few changes, if necessary, before the release date of October 21, 2014.

Even with this new look, that is really only skin deep, will it be enough to convince smart consumers to make the financial investment in this new iPad.  Some people do not need more than a color change to purchase a new device, but others may need a bit more convincing, in order to lay out their hard earned cash.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has not released a new iPad in a year, since the iPad Mini and the iPad Air hit the market.  According to research and sales, consumers are being drawn to the smartphone; that have large screens, and because they are more convenient to carry around.

This color choice is thought to give sales of this 9.7 inch device a boost.   It seems that iPad sales has taken a dive since they launched in the 2010.

Up until recently, the available color choices for the iPad Air have only been silver and dark grey.

Also rumored, is the launch of an even larger iPad, which has a 12.9 inch screen, by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).  If this rumor is true, that means that the screen area will be increased by over 75% over the current model, which is only 9.7 inches.

These new larger screens would allow the user to easily use the split screen option.  This means that two applications can be opened and viewed side-by-side.

Color has long been a marketing tool used, in order to increase sales, as different colors trigger the brain into reacting a certain way.

Gold for instance has long been associated with value, and this is what Americans have been trained to believe, when they see anything gold.  Gold is a color that is best seen in person, as it may appear yellow on printed marketing materials.

Silver, a color that designers at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) use often, is also associated with wealth and prestige.  Once again, it loses some of its luster, when printed and/or represented over the internet.

Has Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) finally found the goose that is laying the Golden Egg?  The stock opened today 100.59 and at 10:30 am Eastern Daylight time, it had dropped to 99.77.  The 52 week outlook ranges from 68.33 to 103.74 and the market cap is s597.65 B.  Currently the inst. own is at 62%.
