Turkish President Rule Out Ban Over Facebook And Youtube

Recently, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and YouTube receive threat of banning by Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan who said that websites are posting fabricated audio recordings that are exposing corruption in his peer group but Turkey’s president rejected any ban on these sites on Friday.

However Erdogan did not accepted any blame of corruption and accused an ex- friend, U.S.-based Turkish Muslim preacher Fethullah Gulen for the wiretaps which he says have been made-up and have no reality. Gulen rejected this accusation and have many followers in Turkey in the judiciary and police department.

On Thursday, a recording is posted on YouTube which showed that criticism of a newspaper owner about an article is heard by Erdogan allegedly over the telephone and suggesting the journalists be fired. But this move put the Erdogan’s authoritarian style of leadership is question and raised concern about freedom of media freedom.

Reforms of Government supported freedom of expression and give it an important value as well, according to President Abdullah Gul, a co-founder of Erdogan’s ruling Islamist-rooted AK Party.
He also added that they are satisfied and contented with reforms that are made for freedom of media. Gul also faced criticism over the past year for not challenging some government ways that are limiting basic freedoms from liberal-minded Turks. However, Gul can reject laws as president once and send them back to parliament for further assessment.

On Thursday, Erdogan gave idea of blocking Facebook and YouTube after March 30 local elections in a TV interview. He also said that the essential measures will be taken at any cost, because such activities can raise every kind of dissolution and surveillance. Erdogan is one of the most well-liked politicians in Turkey who said that uploading such recordings is just a part of a movement to disgrace him and his government, which has presided of well-built financial expansion and rising living standards over more than a decade.
