Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Digging For Interactive Entertainment with Minecraft

332

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) finally announced that it was buying Mojang for $2.5 billion with its Minecraft gaming franchise. On the whole, it’s a valuable purchase but may cause challenges; it will be interesting to see whether Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) landed itself a good deal or not.

Let’s have a look at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s investment and whether it should capitalize in the imminent digital interactive entertainment.

Those who worry about entertainment and media’s future are also somewhat convinced that, one day, interactive media would be colossal. That’s why billions of dollars have been invested in interactive TV testing and CD-ROMs since the 1970s. Today there are tablets and mobile applications along with the internet to view TV, but in reality, even with these interactive channels, linear narrative media remains irreplaceable.

However, Minecraft has been a breakthrough. Even with its low-resolution, block-type characters, the number of people who play and know how to navigate their way through Minecraft is tremendous.

Minecraft, which is more like Mindcraft, is making its place in the world with its infectious, open-ended features. This world is briefly described below;

  • It will be easy to understand Virtual reality (VR): Up till now, VR’s execution has been limited to console gaming and a small applications range. One reason for this is the investment of millions of dollars required to provide a convincing VR experience. However, if this enthralling VR experience is created with Minecraft tools, the temporary, simple experience will be easier to comprehend. It will be particularly easy if experienced with Samsung Gear VR-style, which enables users to put their smartphone screens in a headset which will create a decent answer to immersive VR. It can also, alternatively, use the smartphone camera to blend the real and virtual realms to create a unified experience.
  • Minecraft prototypes will be used as educational resources: Teachers are forever worrying about conjoining worksheets, textbook references and video to prepare classroom resources. The future will see teachers create VR experiences with life-size models and mobile parts of star systems, molecules and even events in history to walk students through. Minecraft models will, probably, soon, provide high-resolution opportunities, but some situations may not even require it because, ultimately, the aim is understanding and not reliability.
  • Mincraft worlds will be generated by 3D cameras: Visualize a recording of a soccer game on one or more than one 3D cameras. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is already using 3D cameras in its Kinect and Google is now testing it in its tablets and smartphones. Kids will wear their Gear VR headsets and move through a full-scale regeneration of important game plays. Of course, watching the world in a digital environment is great, but captivating it and then reconstituting it as VR is fascinating.

It may take time for all this to happen, but the absolute truth is that Minecraft is the perfect interactive tool that will change the face of interactive entertainment. We will have to wait and see if Minecraft could in fact take over.
