With the holiday season just around the corner, eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) has taken a new approach to market its goods globally. Through this, eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) is hoping to bring the customer’s attention to the variety of things that eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) hosts. This is the first time that eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) has created a campaign that is similar in four of its major global markets. All across Americas, Australia, Germany and U.K, eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) has spread the same campaign and by the year 2015 more countries are planned to be added to the list. EBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) plans to continue doing such campaigns in the future as well.

This campaign is being carried out alongside the split between PayPal and eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY). PayPal is the online payment service that eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) used to complete the purchase process of making and receiving payments. However, recently the two companies have decided to part ways and work independently.

The campaigns main idea is to run an advertisement of 15, 30 and 60 seconds in which several items will be shown. Items ranging from smartphones to surfboards will be advertised around the world. Other scenes from the classics will be shown as well, like Dorothy wearing the red shoes in “Wizard of Oz” and the guitar of Jimmy Hendrix. There will also be images of items that the buyers are likely to purchase. The ad will end with a voice over stating ‘it’s a great big world and it can be yours here and only here’.

eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY)’s chief marketing officer, RichelleParham said that the goal is to occupy the customer’s attention until the holiday shopping season. Parham also said that the campaign is being held in the hope to attract as many people to the eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) stores as possible. eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) does not sell items on its own; it is a company that provides means or a platform to a third person to sell items.

Praham also said that through this campaign they want the people to understand what eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) is all about. eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) wants to get rid of the false image of being an auction site, as the company is much more than that. eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) wants people to recognise it as an e-commerce retailer. Praham pointed out that 80% of goods on the site are brand new and 78% are goods with fixed price and therefore the site should not be known as an auction site.

Customers are more likely to buy things from places that they remember and the advertisements make sure that customers remember the place as well as the name of the brand. The ad is scheduled to run on T.V as well as online on Monday. eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY)’s new campaign will surely help the company to get rid of the customer’s preconceived notions about the company being a mere bidding site. The time in which this campaign is being held is ideal because people tend to shop a lot during the holiday season for gifts etc. and they will surely consider eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) while doing their shopping.
