Cricket Wireless join hands with GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME)

Cell phones and games have developed a relationship over the years. Everyone who owns a cell phone looks for games that can be played on it; that is why app and game stores have become so popular. Ever since the inception of cell phones, the manufacturing companies have tried combine telecommunication devices with entertainment. Nowadays you can play games on your cell phones which you played on consoles a decade ago.

AT&T INC (NYSE:T)’s cricket wireless made a partnership with GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) and now GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) will be selling video games and AT&T INC (NYSE:T)’S Cricket Wireless under the same roof.

For the past two years GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) has also been selling Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung smartphones, which were refurbished after buying them second-hand from customers. But now with its AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) deal GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) will enter a new dimension of phone business. The deal with AT&T INC (NYSE:T) isn’t based on an annual contract.

This is the first big national deal for Cricket, who’d certainly like to expand on a multinational level with the help of GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME). Cricket phones aren’t faring well in the market, which is obvious because the smartphone market is being ruled by big guns like Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung. But now with GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) by their side, Cricket has a good chance of attracting customers – especially the youth which populates the GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) market.

AT&T INC (NYSE:T) is bent on making Cricket Wireless go nationwide. They are already planning to introduce 4G network which will enable the subsidiary to distribute nationally and attract more customers.

GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) claims that the deal with AT&T INC (NYSE:T) will allow it to offer affordable smartphones and entertainment under the same roof. They also claim that there is no one out there who can beat them on value.

GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) have loyalty programs where they give discounts on purchases to their customers. Credits from the games and electronics can be used to purchase a smartphone. Many other companies are hesitant to step into the wireless market but that doesn’t keep GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) from expanding into the category. GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) has separate chains for Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) products called simply Mac. Simply Mac are small stores that sell Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) products where Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) doesn’t want to sell.

Analysts say that the deal with GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) will give Cricket Wireless recognition and a healthy line of customers. GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) already is a renowned corporation in the world of gaming and electronics and its partnership with Cricket Wireless will certainly bring a lot of credibility to Cricket smartphones. Smartphone market, as aforementioned, is dominated by high end companies like Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL), Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX: 005930) and Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL). For now it is a rather farfetched thought if we assume that Cricket smartphones will enter the market and sweep it, but it will come down to good sales and profit; its deal with GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) will certainly help the cause.
