Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 misses out on major winning points.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has come out after a year’s hiatus with its blazing new iPhone 6. Hyped ever since iPhone 5 hit the market, iPhone 6 was the most anticipated smart-phone of the year. Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) had created a lot of buzz; they had a lot of word of mouth going on to boil the anxiousness for the arrival of its flagship phone. But when it did come out, people who know a thing or two about smart-phones noticed that it wasn’t quite extraordinary. Has iPhone lost its luster?
The reason iPhone 6 couldn’t completely enthrall the public was because a lot of time has passed since the last iPhone release. Also, many other smart-phones with heavy specifications and a relatively inexpensive price tag have made it into the market. Also there are some specifications that even the latest iPhone has missed out, although they are already being offered by competitors in the market. We’ll discuss some specifications that would’ve been a plus point for iPhone 6 had they been included.
Smartphone companies are now equipped with waterproof technology, and Sony Corporation (TYO:6758) has banked on it right away. Sony Corporation (TYO:6758)’s Xperia Z1 is completely waterproof which gives the user a certain security about their phone. At least it assures you of the fact that if there is anything that can harm your phone, it’s not water. iPhone 6 should have banked on this technology if they were thinking of making a smart-phone that is ‘complete’ from every aspect.
iPhone isn’t really known for a long battery life. Throughout the iPhone series it has faced the problem of a brief battery life, lasting only for some hours depending on the use. On the other hand Motorola’s Droid Maxx boasts of 48 hours of battery life. Of course it depends upon how you use it, but even if it lasts half of that, one could say that it’s a healthy battery life. As for the iPhone 6, I’m not sure anyone would say the same.
iPhone 6 also missed out on the air gesture and eye roll technology which Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) employed with their S5 smart-phone. You can pick your calls with just a gesture of your hand over the sensor; also the screen stays lit when you’re looking at it. These features give you a feeling of dominance over your device which unfortunately iPhone 6 users won’t be cherishing.
Lumia 1020 brought the idea into the smart-phone world that even a phone can possess a camera that would make a DSLR look ordinary. Lumia 1020, built with a massive 41MP camera set the record straight as being a smart-phone that took its camera performance very serious. Compare it to iPhone 6’s camera which is a mere 8MP, there is absolutely no competition.
Finally, the much appreciated nexus phones, which are quite inexpensive yet heavy gadgets in terms of performance. One can purchase a Nexus 5 for nothing with a contract, upfront. With a 5 inch screen and an 8MP camera, it’s a phone that you can buy within your budget and make any iPhone user envious.
