Samsung (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF) vs. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) – who is the All Time Phablet Champ

1062

Apple’s (NASDAQ: AAPL) new devices, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, have created a huge buzz since their launch. The share price of Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) had a bit of a rise in the market too. According to Apple’s (NASDAQ: AAPL) CEO, Tim Cook, the company sold nearly 10 million devices over the first weekend alone. But not everything went the company’s way because customers soon started reporting malfunctions in the new phablets by Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).

In comparison, Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) competitor, Samsung (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF) is riding the high wave. Even though Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has already made a handsome profit, which has given stockholders and the company itself some level of satisfaction. However when it comes to Phablets, Samsung (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF) does have a clear advantage over Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) in terms of sales and profits.

Analysts and companies make a lot of predictions made about sales and profits even before the new devices hit the market. Currently, it is being predicted that the phablet market will be doubled in the next few years and is likely to affect 59% of the total smartphone market. In light of these predictions, it is expected that 2019 will bring a shipment of about 1.5 million phablets. This estimate may not be entirely accurate, but Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF) have already secured their future with their phablets to some extent.

But what is their situation against each other?

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) ran into a few issues; customers have made complaints about the new iPhone 6 plus. The 10 million sales of the new devices is quite a success, however it makes one wonder how many of these were the faulty iPhone 6 Plus’. The new iOS that powers these new iPhone 6s also caused several service problems for the iPhone users last Wednesday. Not only this, but earlier a peculiar complaint that some iPhone 6 plus models bend if pressure is exerted on them also surfaced.

Along with service outage issues, operating system faults and accidental bending, another major problem is the low battery timing of the new devices. However, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) sales do not seem to be affected by these malfunctions. Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL)’s customers seem very loyal to the company. However, the company may have problems securing new customers who do not use Apple products, which may lead to sales issues for the company as it has entered a phablet battle with Samsung.

On the other hand it was a smart move by Samsung (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF) to reveal its Galaxy Note 4 at a time when Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) was introducing its new phablet devices. Samsung’s (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF) Note 4 is as good as the iPhone 6 and 6 plus or may be even better. The display of Galaxy Note 4 is 5.7 inches; larger than Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL)’s phablets. The compatibility of Note 4 with Samsung (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF)’s Gear VR is another advantage for the mobile gamers.

The market sales are a clear proof that Samsung’s (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF) phablets are more successful than Apple’s (NASDAQ: AAPL). Samsung (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF) sales so far are double than the phablet sales of Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).
