Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Android 5.0 Disappoints Everyone

The new OS Android 5.0, Lollipop, is a radical software upgrade introduced by Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG). Its aim was to improve performance by introducing new features and changing the language of the design interface.

However, Lollipop is not having the effect that Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) expected of it; several Nexus 5 users are very disappointed with the upgrade. Ever since Lollipop was rolled out for Nexus 5, Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has received nothing but complaints from all users. Users have complained about connectivity issues, software bugs and SMS issues.

A number of users of Nexus 5 in India, who recently upgraded to Android 5.0, are complaining about reduced battery life, crashing system applications, issues with Wi-Fi connectivity and phone heating up. An analyst at a global market research fund, Harsh Garg, was disappointed with the performance of Lollipop. He faced issues related to battery-life and stability of the software. He complained that now he has to charge his phone twice during a typical work day instead of once. He said that his sister, who happened to be a Nexus 5 user but a lighter one, is also facing problems with battery life.

Garg said that he was anticipating the Lollipop update. However, when he finally did upgrade his phone, he was very frustrated. He complained that the phone freezes often and refuses to respond unless restarted. The camera app also crashes.

Karnika Kohli, a manager at a media house, reviewed that her phone has much reduced standby time ever since she upgraded to Lollipop. She said that the apps for camera and music crash at random intervals. The phone takes a long time to sync.

Bhavin Shah, an online entrepreneur in India, said that his Nexus 5, has become very slow and buggy ever since he upgraded to Lollipop.

Issues related to the compatibility of third-party apps with Lollipop will take a long time to resolve. The app developers are optimizing their apps for Lollipop. However, even the system apps on Google Store are facing stability issues.

Rohit Khanna, brand manager at a publication house, uses Nexus 5, also said that the Lollipop update was a disappointment. He said that the phone crashes frequently, has battery life issues, freezes all the time and heats up quickly. A user from Mumbai, Sonam, said that the apps crash randomly. Neha Aggarwal is a brand manager in Delhi, she complained about the gallery app crashing and the reduced battery life.

Many users have complained about the problems that they encountered after upgrading their phone to the much-awaited Android upgrade, Lollipop. Some users have also complained about encountering troubles with their Facebook and Twitter apps after the upgrade.

Before Lollipop was launched, the developers performed bug reporting and extensive testing. They used test builds of Lollipop to carry out testing ever since the announcement of the new OS in June of this year.

Android 5.0 set out to refresh the look of Android, unfortunately, Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has disappointed everybody.
