India once again faces retrieval of vehicles from being sold in the country. Earlier on, Maruti Suzuki had recalled its newly launched Ciaz from India, Corolla also recalled its Corolla Altis and other major companies like Audi, Honda and Nissan also recalled their vehicles from the country.

This time Ford (NYSE:F) India is recalling its EcoSport from the country. It seems like India has major problems with the manufacturing of cars which is why the country keeps facing these situations over and over again. Ford’s (NYSE:F) model EcoSport SUV is the top selling vehicle in India, but due to some problems, the company has decided to recall the vehicle. There are two reasons behind Ford’s (NYSE:F) recall, one is about an issue with the airbag and the other reason is related to fuel and vapour line corrosion.

India however, is not the only country Ford (NYSE:F) is recalling its vehicle from. Earlier on Ford (NYSE:F) was in the news due to its retrieval of EcoSport in Australia. The retrieval was made so that the company could fix an issue with the wiring gear that linked the curtain airbags with seatbelt sensors and side impact sensor.

In India, around 20,752 units of EcoSport SUV models have been identified with defects in the wiring gear. The issue with the wiring gear can eventually have an impact on the deployment of side airbags. Apart from that, just to be on the safe side, the company also recalled 2,715 additional units of EcoSport SUVs to repair any possible issues related to fuel and vapour line corrosion. These vehicles were manufactured between the timeline of January 2013 to September 2014.

The company announced that the safety of the customers is top priority at Ford (NYSE:F) and for the peace of mind of the customers, the company has taken the necessary steps. 20,752 EcoSport vehicles have been recalled for examination.

Ford (NYSE:F) didn’t confirm whether the company took these steps because of customer feedback, but chances are that a few complaints lead to the decision.

This wouldn’t be the first time the company initiated a recall of vehicles. Earlier on Ford (NYSE:F) India had called for its EcoSport SUVs to mend an issue related to the Glow Plug Module in the vehicle’s engine.

In November 2014, in an attempt to examine the waterproof glow plug control module, Ford (NYSE:F) recalled 3,072 units of Fiesta diesel.

Sales have been continuously declining in the Indian market. The company saw a 9% drop to 53,525 units in this fiscal year’s first eight months. Till now, in this fiscal year Ford (NYSE:F) sold 36,389 units of its EcoSport SUVs in India.

Ford (NYSE:F) is writing to its customers asking them to contact their local dealership with any issues so that the necessary steps can be taken to deal with the problem free of cost. India is a huge market for Ford (NYSE:F) automobiles, and the company would not want to lose its customers in the country due to faulty vehicles.
