Ford’s (NYSE:F) F-150 Loses Motor Trend Award to Chevrolet Pickup

Popular Car magazine, Motor Trend announced today that it has decided to pick Chevrolet’s new moderate size pickup, the Colorado, for its prestigious Truck of the Year award, which is a hit to Ford’s (NYSE:F) pride in its all-new aluminum-bodied F-150 pickup truck.

Given the measure of hoopla and hype created by Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) over its new, lighter aluminum body, many experts and analysts expected the 2015 Ford F-150 to lead from the front. However Ed Loh, supervisor in-head of Motor Trend argued that the magazine gives the honor to vehicles it considers best in their class.

Among full-size trucks, he stated the award by his magazine shows that Ford’s new F-150 falls behind the clean-diesel motor variant of the current Ram 1500. The shocking aspect was that F-150 didn’t even come in second. The second place to another Ford (NYSE:F) model – the company’s new Transit full-estimate business van.

These kinds of awards are highly desired by automakers because they have the tendency to influence their buyers’ decisions. The real test for Ford’s (NYSE:F) F-150 will be the North American Truck of the Year prize that is given away every year in January at the huge yearly car exhibition held in Detroit.

According to Ed Loh, Motor Trend authors and editors voted unanimously that the Chevy Colorado moderate size beat all of its opponents and is the best in it league by being a right-sized truck with attractive model outlook and fuel efficiency.

Most Colorado arrangements attained no less than 20 miles per every gallon on the road. The truck, alongside its corporate cousin GMC Canyon, came into focus this year; these two brought back General Motors (NYSE:GM), Chrysler and Ford (NYSE:F) to a segment that all three had left; this segment was then taken over by Toyota Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier.

Loh claimed that most of his staff fell head over the heels in love with the pick-up calling it the right pickup for men. A Chevrolet authority says the brand and the company is very excited, happy and proud at receiving the honor for a truck that has just came to the showrooms in September.

Representative Otie Mckinley indicated the truck’s torque, towing, integration and calm lodge would change this category of vehicles. He claimed their newest truck is changing the way the fair size truck purchaser looks at trucks and is reinventing the segments.

Loh had only good things to say regarding the new form of the F-150, the long lasting country’s top rated auto or truck. The truck’s aluminum body and different changes reduce up to 700 pounds every vehicle. It now additionally offers extravagance touches that are new to this category; these include an immense sunroof and a framework to keep the truck from going out of its own lane. Purchasers who are switching to the latest turbocharged 2.7-liter motor in the F-150 from a V-8 can see gas-mileage changes of up to 29%, according to ford.
