Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6; big and bigger

7

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) remained loyal to its smaller screen for quite some time, but it seems like it has finally admitted that bigger is better. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus are bigger than ever; reviewers say that the new iPhones might not be innovative but are a step up in terms of improvement. The iPhone 6 boasts of having a 4.4 inch screen and iPhone 6 plus has an even bigger screen of 5.5 inches.

For some reviewers, if not all, the new iPhone 6 has topped the smartphone market. The 5.5 inch iPhone 6 plus, which is also being called the “phablet”, is believed to become a huge competitor of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S line of Android phones (which are famous for their size). The Android sets have enjoyed popularity amongst its customers and one of the main reasons for that was their uniquely large size. However, with Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) increase in the size of the phone, people who like bigger screens will consider it as an option; thus giving more competition to the Android phones.

Walt Mossberg praised the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 in his tech blog. According to him the new iPhone is the best Smartphone in the market. He said it becomes a terrific phone when you combine its hardware with the all new operating system and not to mention the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) ecosystem.

According to Geffory Fowler, a reviewer of phones for the Wall Street Journal, said that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been successful in overcoming its size deficiency. The smaller screen size was the one feature that needed attention and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) finally addressed to it – and effectively.

As per Mossberg the change in the screen size was just a way to catch up with the growing market of bigger phones but Fowler’s take on this is more encouraging. Fowler felt that the iPhone seemed to be at a standstill due to its size. According to him the smaller phones were more popular in 2012 which was before the bigger phones were introduced.

Molly Wood, a reviewer of New York Times praised and commended the thinner and flatter shape of the phone but also pointed out that the sleeker the phone, the more slippery it becomes.

The iOS8 software and the improvements in the operating system along with the camera, received a positive welcome from reviewers by and large. Yet at the same time almost all reviewers felt that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) should have worked on giving the phone a better battery life.

Joshua Topolski, a reviewer of the phones for Bloomsberg felt that the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus were faster than the ones before them. Topolski affirmed Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) claim that these were the fastest mobile phones Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) had made so far.

The latest iPhones by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) are highly anticipated by people and many have pre-ordered the phones already. However, the wait is almost over as the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus is expected to go on sale on the 19th of September in the U.S.
