When it comes to Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) and Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR), investors side with Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB). There are several reasons for that. The foremost reason is that Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB)’s value on the social media market is way above than Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR). Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) has been rising fast but Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB)’s user value keeps increasing and hasn’t slowed down despite being in many controversies. On the other hand, Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) has been making good earnings but not without its share of losses. That’s a big concern for Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR), not being able to impose profits over losses. Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) so far hasn’t had that problem.
Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB)’s profits are way larger than Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR). Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) amassed $12.47 billion in the past quarter going up by 58 percent whereas Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) could only go up by $497 million and that too was a surge of 97 percent. But Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) lost $125 million also, which sends a warning to the investors that the company isn’t as stable as Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB), or at least not as stable as you thought it was.
The other thing which benefits Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) is the number of users onboard. The company’s users went up by 13 percent year to year to 1.39 billion. Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) is way behind with its users still in millions. One might argue that Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) has been in the business for a long time but the year to year growth and the quarterly growth still favors Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB). Active users are what make a company worth of something. Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) is rising yes, but its ascension isn’t as quick as Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB)’s.
Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) has been in the market for a long time and now it wields power on a socio-political level. Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) on the other hand comes from a different background and the dynamics of Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) is different than Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB). Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) is preferred when it comes to news but Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) is used for a lot of things besides social interaction. There are big businesses that run through Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB), independent and commercial scale businesses.
On the other hand, Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR)’s ability to stay out of controversies and political scenarios make Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) a safe bet, in the sense that the stock isn’t affected by any political scenario, unlike Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB). Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) doesn’t delve into political matters, neither does it takes any interest in things beyond business. Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) is different and is involved in many political scenarios, and has been accused of manipulation, spying and tracking its users and doing favors for secret agencies. So far these rumors haven’t been confirmed and the trust of the investors hasn’t budged from Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB).
It will be good for both of these companies to just focus upon business because that is the priority, what else the companies first came into business for. For investors, both of these social media companies are good bets, except Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) is better, as of now. But who knows, tables might turn in the future for Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR).
