The social media network announced, April of 2014, that it would begin tapping into personal information that will allow them to see advertisement on their mobile devices, outside of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB).In the past, ads were only available to a select few, but now they can be purchased by any of the Facebook advertisers, a number that exceeds over 1.5 million. This advertising network has big benefits for Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) because it will now open up the opportunity to collected revenue outside of the Facebook borders. In a recent press release, Facebook has said that the ad network, known as Facebook Audience Network, tests were a success. A spokeswoman for Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) would not commit to exactly how many mobile publishers have participated in this network, but she did say that the number is expected to grow rapidly. As of Tuesday, October 7, 2014, anyone who purchases a Facebook ad will also have the ability to have the ad seen on other mobile apps, not just the ones linked to Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB).The participants of the Audience Network will need to download and install a software developer kit which will give Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) access to glean more personal data from their users. This network will put Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) in line with their competition for making more money with mobile advertising. Google Inc N(ASDAQ:GOOGL) has AdMob, Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) has MoPub and Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) has Flurry.

Previously, developers would need to hire a sales team and lay out big bucks for an independent ad network to sell their ad to different mobile apps. In addition, the demographics were limited, which meant that more often than not, the target audience was not being reached. By assisting developers with advertising, Facebook can more easily gather personal information about their users. Mark, Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) , said that the company does not own their own mobile operating system, so he refers to this as a cross platform – platform.

The results from publishers, as well as advertisers that have been using the Audience Network have been positive and profitable. For example, Glu, the makers of the popular Kim Kardashian game earned more than twice as much than with another advertising network. Wooga, another game maker, said that the Audience Network performs 10 times better than other ad networks. Vinted, Merriam Webster, Deezer, IGN and Zynga are all switching to the Audience Network. If the idea of these ads following you around freaks you out, and it should, you can opt out through the setting on your mobile phone.

Android users can change the setting by opting out of the interest tracking advertising ID and iOS users need to go to settings/privacy/advertising and enable the Limit Ad Tracking option. Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) opened at 77.05 and at 12:55 pm Eastern Daylight Time, it is 77.34. The 52 week outlook ranges from 43.55 to 79.71 with a marketing cap of 201.36 B and it is 66% inst. owned.
