With Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) recent launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the tech firm has seen its shares of ups and downs. But let’s give credit where due; both these iPhones are doing exceptionally well in the United States. A recent report by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) analyst at Canaccord Genuity, Mike Walkey, stated that the company’s iPhone 6 is by far the leading smartphone right now at Verizon (NYSE:VZ), T-Mobile (NYSE:PCS), AT&T (NYSE:T) and Sprint.
The second as well as third places are also occupied by Apple products with the iPhone 6 Plus in second place followed by 5s. Both Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 as well as 6 Plus caused the Samsung Galaxy S5 and G3 of LG to transfer from second place in four of the mobile carriers and third place in three of the mobile carriers respectively. In Walkley’s opinion both the iPhone 6s will encounter strong sales through the quarter of March 2015.
Another point that he noted out was that the large sizes of their screens will also result in an increase in market share since it has become obvious that consumers prefer larger screens. The achievements of the company don’t end there as the iPhone 6 has become the best seller in Japan as well. BCN, the website that shows the sales of consumer devices in the country every week and month stated that the first three weeks of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in Japan starting 19th September went as follows:
- In the first three weeks, the iPhone 6 maintained 9 positions of the top 25
- In all three weeks the iPhone 6 held top 4 positions
- Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 Plus saw in three weeks its top 25 positions going from 7 to 5 and then 3 each week respectively. This was probably because of supply constraints
- Both of the iPhones were 16 of the 25 top positions the first week. The 5s and 5 dropped to 12 and 12 in the second and third week respectively
- There has been more demand for the 16GB at 19 of 49 iPhone’s having the minimum amount of memory available
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) began taking iPhone 6 as well as 6 Plus preorders on the 10th of October in China. The company allotted reservations starting October 14 for the phones to be picked up from the China Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) store by consumers. On October 11th, the website announced that the lead time for iPhone 6 was much longer, being nearly 1-2 or sometimes 2-3 weeks compared to other country websites which made it under 7-10 working days.
Late Tuesday night two of the iPhone 6 and one 6 Plus had lead-times lengthened to 2-3 weeks. Overall the iPhone 6 in China has longer lead-times than in the US but the 6 Plus remains shorter in China. This makes it obvious that iPhone 6 has longer lead times in China compared to other countries due to various reasons.
