BlackBerry Ltd. (NASDAQ:BBRY) Aiming to Take Over Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Market

21

BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) has decided to take Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) head on with its phablet BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) Passport. BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) recently announced that it will be offering a price cut as low as 499 dollar on Amazon. On top of that, trading an old iPhone will earn you the very new BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) passport with a 200 dollar discount. That doesn’t sound like a bad deal at all.

In fact, it’s a challenge to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). The phone will be available in numerous colors. BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) is open to be trading the new phablet for iPhone 4S also, although offering only a 90 dollar discount considering the condition of the phone. Qualifying models include 4S, 5, 5C, 5S and of course 6. BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) Passport is Amazon’s best selling phone these days with large number of customers pouring in every month for purchase.

The promotion has started from Monday and will run through till February 14. The deal is only mint in North America. The trade-in would come through the Visa prepaid card. BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) has been suffering from bad times with its market share now less than one percent. BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) has been losing customers consistently and is now desperate to win back some customers. But taking on Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), we don’t know if that’s really a good idea.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) hasn’t commented on this deal as of yet but it’s certain it will be planning a retaliation against BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) for trying to absorb the former’s market. On close inspection, will anyone actually trade their iPhones for a BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY)? We must reiterate that this is no regular BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY), it’s much more enhanced and strong enough to tackle any phablet on the market.

In fact it’s strong enough to go head to head against the iPhone 6. Although the sales of the iPhone 6 are incomparable to BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) passport, the latter has all the makings of a grand phablet which is efficient and worthy of standing beside Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s mega gadget. BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) Passport got off to a great start in September with 200,000 orders and it also sold out on the website.

Comparing it to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) the iPhone 6 will be unfair but for BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s standards, it’s a phone that holds the power to bring back the customers to BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY). This deal will decide whether customers are fans of BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) or not, whether BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) weighs power against iPhone or not. On the other hand, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be keenly observing how the deal plays out and how customers react to it.

Normally Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) doesn’t tend to such threats but considering BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) is aiming to chop its market down, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) won’t be amused. The deal can play out both ways for BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY); it’s just a matter of time which will tell us how customers react to the deal. The deal will continue till February 13. Plenty of time to asses BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s power.
