Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Vs Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) – the Tablet War

720

According to the latest news, Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is expected to launch its new tablet on October 15, a day before Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to unveil its next iPad. This launch is expected to get very competitive for both the gadget pioneers.

According to Bright Side of News site, the new Nexus will hit stores on November 3, and will cost just $399. According to sources, Nexus 9 is an effort brought forth by HTC. It’s a 9-inch screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution display that runs on chip maker Nvidia’s new K1 processor. After months of speculations, this is the first time that actual dates and prices have been mentioned.

However, this information has been posted on a blog which is likely to raise questions of its legitimacy. Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) neither confirms nor denies any of this information, but it has been seen in the past that Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) never really announces launch for its new products. Android 4.4 kitkat and Nexus 5 smartphone were launched without much fuss. Unlike Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) doesn’t take extreme measures to exhibit its latest devices. So there is no reason for this year to be any different. Whether this approach works for Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) or not, only time will tell.

If Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) makes its usual grand launch a day after Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Nexus is made public, it might steal the spot light away from the Nexus 9 and place it on Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s first ever official successor to iPad Air. But no matter what, the competition is expected to be tough.

Let’s briefly look into what both the tablets are offering and how they both differ from each other.

-          Display and Screen: Nexus 9 is an 8.9 inch display with 2048 x 1400 resolution and density of 281 ppi. Whereas iPad Air has a bigger screen of 9.7, with 2048 x 1536 resolution at 264 ppi.

-          Build and Design Quality: Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad Air is expected to outdo its contender. Nexus’s plastic case that is matte stands no chance in front of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s aluminum.

-          RAM and Processor: Nexus 9 offers Nvidia tegra K1 that is dual core with a processor of 64 bit and 2 GB RAM. Whereas iPad Air has dual-core, A7 processor of 64 bit and a co-processor of M7 motion with 1GB RAM.

-          Operating System: Nexus will be powered by Android L 5.0 also known as Android Lollipop and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad will run the latest iOS 8.0 version.

-          Camera: Nexus 9 has 3MP front camera and 8 MP back camera that supports Optical Image Stabilization. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) also has a stabilized camera but its 5 MP sensor is considered less powerful.

-          Battery: Nexus 9 offers 3,200 mAh battery as compared to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s amazing mAh battery of 8,827.

Considering the aforementioned, it can be concluded that the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad seems like a more desirable product but the Nexus 9 is a more sensible buy. It is not as elegant and classy, with chamfered edges but is more affordable then the iPad.
