Tech Stock Updates: Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (NASDAQ:EFII), ZAGG Inc (NASDAQ:ZAGG), Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ:PRGS)

Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (NASDAQ:EFII) announced Tuesday another key victory in a patent troll case filed by Acacia subsidiary Digitech Image Technologies. The development offered little immediate help for shares, however.

Last week, the U.S. Federal Circuit Court of Appeals confirmed that a device profile patent claimed by Digitech Image Technologies is invalid. The Federal Appeals Court said that the device profiles asserted in Digitech’s patent were simply “a collection of intangible color and spatial information,” meaning that they are not eligible for patenting.

EFII General Counsel Bryan Ko said, “”The Federal Circuit’s decision confirms what we have maintained from the outset: that the patent is invalid and that EFI and its partners should not have been sued in the first place.” In late morning trade, shares of the digital printing company were off 1.1% to $44.36.

ZAGG Inc (NASDAQ:ZAGG) announced Tuesday the launch of a new keyboard case designed for Apple (AAPL) tablets called ZAGG Rugged Folio. The ZAGG Rugged Folio is a durable, multi-layered Bluetooth keyboard case, the iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display version will retail for $139 while the iPad Air version will retail for $149. In midday trade, ZAGG shares were down 2.3% to $5.52.

Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ:PRGS) is drifting off positive territory Tuesday amid broad-market weakness. Supportive for shares is news that the software solutions company’s Rollbase rapid application from its Progress Pacific platform is now offered through Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN).

Amazon Market Place account customers can now use the Rollbase solution to quickly create and launch business apps on any platform to their customers and at reduced costs. Additionally, users can streamline billing. PRGS is down 0.5% at $23.58 per share in midday Tuesday trading with the fractionally lower technology group. Shares trade near the middle of a 52-week price range of $20.06 – $26.95 per share.
