Ford F – series (NYSE:F) capable of retaining the position of top-selling car in U.S or not?

420

Since its establishment in 1948, Ford is a serious contender in the automobile industry. The Ford F series (NYSE:F) comprises of full size pick-up trucks from the Ford company and is quite popular in the U.S. market. Amongst the F series, F-150 is known for having most customers and making quite profitable sales.

Since Ford (NYSE:F) has announced of its plans for the F-series pickup in the year 2014 – 15, the company’s shareholders underwent great losses.

According to a statement made by the management at Ford, Ford plans to use high-strength, military-grade aluminium alloys in the body of its vehicles, specially the F-150 and will continue this practice. This plan is expected to go ahead in 2015 that will make Ford the first company to use aluminium. This will enable Ford to carry on leading truck market, improve durability and will give the vehicle better mileage.

However the question remains whether these changes will become popular with the buyers or go unnoticeable. The Ford F – series (NYSE:F) have seen a decline this year and desperately need to make sales. Even though Ford has made huge sales in the past, a slight decline may not really cause any permanent damage to the company; however, the sales made by the rival companies do create competition. General Motors Co. (NYSE:GM), a competitor company saw a boost in the sales of Chevy Silverado as well as Chrysler’s Dodge Ram.  This brought in humongous profits for the company.

United States has seen major sales in the pick-up designs for the month of august. This trend has continued for the first 8 months of the year. Ford sold 68,109 F-series (NYSE:F) pick-ups in August but this figure has seen a decline by 4.2% than the statistics recorded last year. On the other hand the sales of Silverado and Dodge Ram rose by 12.8% and 32.6% respectively. The monthly sales of Dodge Ram are expected to rise even above the sales of Silverado by the end of this year.

Even with the boost in the sales of Silverado, the sales of F-series (NYSE:F) were still 39% higher as of August. Hence the company is not concerned with retaining the position of being the top seller in U.S., however, there is a need to strategies the boost of its sales. Monotonous trends in sales are not a good sign for any business.  Therefore, the sales need to grow in order for the company to progress.

Ford needs to come up with a strategy to increase the sales of its F-series (NYSE:F) in order to grow as a company as well as continue to retain popularity with the customers. The company’s expectations have been discouraged by the lack of interest towards the use of aluminium in the new range of automobiles. The need of the time is that Ford (NYSE:F) develops a better advertising plan to attract attention towards its F-series (NYSE:F) pick-ups.
