The automobile sales of different companies are reported on monthly and annual basis in the United States. By the end of every month, analysts put forth their monthly report of expected quotes of sales from various companies. When the companies release actual quotes, the two results are tallied to see the difference between the concrete and expected quotes of the automobile companies. Analysts might base their expectations on number of things, such as the company’s overall reputation, the popularity of the cars or market trends as far as the consumers are concerned etc. Based on these and other factors, the analysts predict their percentage of sale expectations and they can be quite precise or inaccurate as the automobile market can be quite unpredictable.

The number or percentage of auto sales that took place in United States in the month of September is expected to be released on Wednesday. However some of the companies have already started to send in the results of their sales and it can be determined that the results differ from the expectations of analysts who predicted the rise and fall in the auto sales of different companies.

The first result that was sent in was from the makers of Chrysler. Chrysler was expected to make a 16% rise in sales, but according to the results sent in by the company, it ended up making a rise of 19% and thus exceeded the expectations.

Nissan (OTC: NSANF) was the next company that sent in the results and just like Chrysler, it also exceeded the expectation by increasing the sale to 18.5%. Nissan (OTC: NSANF)’s September sale was expected by analysts to rise by 17% as per the report from Bloomberg. Ford on the other hand was expected to lose its sales by 2.4%, but the company again did not fulfil the expectations of the analyst and although its sales did drop but more than it was expected. Ford (NYSE:F)’s sales dropped by 2.7% instead of the predicted 2.4%.

General motors (NYSE: GM)’ exceeded the expectations and its sales were increased by 19.4% while the expected sales were 18%. Honda (NYSE: HMC) also did not perform as per the expectations of the analysts. It was expected that Honda (NYSE: HMC)’s sales will increase by 15%, but the company could only increase the sales by 12%.

Last but not the least is the sales recorded by Toyota. Analysts had high expectations from Toyota. They had predicted 7.5% increase in the sales but the company could only increase its sales by 1.7%.

The September sales are expected to slow down some of the companies to a yearly course of 16.9 million automobiles. However the results are expected to roll in by Wednesday and even if the results don’t change drastically there will be some addition or subtraction to the current expected data. The actual comparison will therefore be made after Wednesday to see how the automobile market fared in September.
