Sharp (OTCMKTS:SHCAY) gets out of its Comfort Zone

13

The much awaited Sharp (OTCMKTS: SHCAY) AQUOS Crystal has recently made its debut. Sharp (OTCMKTS: SHCAY) is fairly a new entrant into the market of smartphones and is expected to give some serious competition to other major brands in the business. It has been a while since Sharp (OTCMKTS: SHCAY) released a smartphone in the US. This month, the company has made its return. It has launched a midrange Sharp (OTCMKTS: SHCAY) Aquos Crystal Smartphone from Sprint, Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile. What makes this smartphone different from the other Androids is its edge-to-edge display of 5 inches; this is a fairly new feature and is quite unique amongst Android phones family. It has been priced quite reasonably and is expected to cost $240 off contract and can also be obtained through 24 installments.

Even though it is quite affordable and has a beautiful built, it has a few negative aspects. This phone includes a slow processor and has lesser internal memory as compared to other similar devices. In addition to this, it has a mediocre audio quality and slow performance and hence it is priced accordingly.

The draw backs of this phone are listed below:

-          Aquos Crystal does not offer a conventional earpiece that can be used for phone calls. The smartphone features technology that produces vibrations on its screen’s surface to create phone call sounds. The company claims phone calls become clearer with its Direct Wave Receiver makes in loud environments and the user has the advantage of placing their ear wherever he or she chooses on the screen.

-          Since the display is edge to edge the front facing 1.2 megapixel camera is located at the device’s bottom edge. It makes taking photos slightly uncomfortable as in some cases the phone needs to be rotated at 180 degrees, especially when taking selfies. The eight megapixels back camera doesn’t produce great results either, according to some sources.

-          The Aquos Crystal ssmartphone is powered by 4.42 version of Android KitKat. It also comes with many preloaded apps that may be useless for many and there might be a need to uninstall them.

-          At 8 gigabytes, it offers half the storage than many other devices. And even though there is an SD slot, the summed storage is still not sufficient.

-          Some features take extra time to launch, like the camera, scrolling up and down on web page, which can be quite cumbersome for users. This is evidently due to less available storage.

Besides these drawbacks, Sharp (OTCMKTS:SHCAY) has managed to come up with a smartphone that looks similar to the existing top notch devices, but it definitely lags behind in terms of performance. However, this being the first launch for quite some time; Sharp (OTCMKTS: SHCAY) has done fairly well. It is expected to go a long way due to its budget friendly price and its pleasing appearance. However, in order to stay strong in the current market, it will need to concentrate on the performance along with other features to ensure customer satisfaction.
